MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 49 flyweight Wilson Reis as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card bout against Joby Sanchez this Saturday (August 23, 2014) at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The talented Alliance MMA grappler is making his flyweight debut tonight, but if he had it his way, he’d have been competing in the division a long time ago:
“The reason, I fought my first two fights professionally at 150. Then I fought 140 for Elite XC. Then for Bellator, I signed to fight at 145 and I finally dropped to 135 my last fight with Bellator. I’m getting to a lower division and I’m only 5’4 so naturally, I should be at 125 a long time ago. I just packed on a lot of muscle and kept fighting at whatever weight class they put me in. After my last fight, I was thinking of dropping to 125. In a few of my fights, I felt undersized especially my last fight. Guys will only get bigger at 135, not smaller, so that’s why I decided to drop down.”
