Here is my parlay for UFC Fight Night 48 in China… Welterweight bout: Alberto Mina (-210) vs Shinsho Anzai (+190) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this fight will be a lot closer than the current betting odds suggest, though I do slightly favor Mina to ultimately pick up the nod. Regardless of who gets his hand raised, I think this fight plays out for all three rounds of action more often than not, which is why I think the total of over 1.5 rounds at -175 offers the most value. I would not be surprised to see a finish in this fight, but believe the chances of one occurring in under 1.5 rounds are very low. I think both of these fighters are talented and feel they will both have a bright future inside the Octagon, regardless of the outcome of this particular contest. I look forward to seeing them both make their promotional debuts; their styles could combine for a less-than-entertaining fight, but hopefully they will impress, and for our sake, do so for more than a round and a half. Gabe’s Call: Mina by Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) Bantamweight bout: Royston Wee (-290) Yao Zhikui (+260) Gabe’s Thoughts: In this grappler vs grappler match-up, I think Wee will get the better of Zhikui on the mat and dominate him in top control for the majority of the bout, en route to a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards for him. Zhikui’s takedown defense is not great, so I don’t think Wee will have trouble taking him down to the mat. I expect him to do what he did in his Octagon debut against Dave Galera and just take Zhikui down and grind him out for the majority of 15 minutes of action. I don’t think Zhikui is a threat to Wee and I see Wee picking up another easy win here and hopefully earning a fight with an established UFC bantamweight his next time out. While I favor Wee to win this fight via decision, I think there is a decent chance he earns a submission victory here, as well. He has a solid submission game and he may showcase it here in his second appearance inside the Octagon. Gabe’s Call: Wee by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Parlay: Mina/Anzai Over 1.5 rounds (-175) parlayed with Wee (-290) for +111 3.1u to win 3.45u
