MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with World Series of Fighting 12 middleweight Cully Butterfield as he prepares for his upcoming main card bout against Ronny Markes this Saturday (August 9, 2014) at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Wisconsin native knows he has the toughest test of his career in front of him, but he has some confidence in his striking skills against the Brazilian:
“He’s more of a grinder is what I’ve been told. This all happened so fast. Literally I got the call Tuesday and I said I’d take it. It took me 20 minutes. He’s a grinder, similar to my style. I have good striking, but when I get in there, I try to take them down and beat them up. In my mind, I’ve got the better stand-up, so I want to go in there like a Chael Sonnen striker and use more boxing with the threat of the takedown.”
