Here is my two –way preliminary card parlay for UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin… Middleweight bout: Chris Dempsey (+200) vs Ilir Latifi (-240) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Latifi is going to use his superior grappling to win this fight; either by submission or dominant 30-27 decision on the judges’ scorecards. I’m not sure if Dempsey can hang in there for 15 minutes, so I am favoring a finish here. It could come via TKO, but Latifi is very good at working his chokes, so I figure the most likely outcome would be some sort of submission. I believe Latifi will make the most of this opportunity, and expect him to get his hand raised on Saturday night, going on a nice 2-0 run in the UFC’s light heavyweight division and getting ready to make it 3-0 in October, for when the UFC’s make its return to Latifi’s home-land of Sweden. Gabe’s Call: Latifi by Submission (guillotine choke, 3:01 round 1) Flyweight bout: Neil Seery (-145) vs Phil Harris (+125) Gabe’s Thoughts: There’s a chance Seery could finish this fight, but I favor him outworking Harris en route to picking up a decision on the judges’ scorecards. I think Seery will mix it up pretty well; I expect him to tag Harris a few times and get his takedowns in to secure rounds. I have a feeling he will spend a decent amount of time in top control. This could very likely be a loser-goes-home match-up for both of these 125-pounders, so a win is crucial. Both fighters are from the area, but Seery will have the hometown edge, as he is the Irishman taking on the Brit in Harris.
