Here is my three –way parlay for UFC Fight Night 45 in Atlantic City… Welterweight bout: Rick Story (-280) vs Leonardo Mafra (+240) Gabe’s Thoughts: I believe Story to be the superior mixed martial artist in this match-up, not to mention the superior wrestler. I think his superior wrestling will in fact be his main key to victory in this bout, though I think he can and may very well get the better of the Brazilian with his hands, as well. Regardless of how it is going on the feet, even if he is in complete control there, I think he will look to secure takedowns and get his ground and pound in. He is not the type of fighter who would necessarily initiate his wrestling if the fight is going his way on the feet, but I have a feeling he will look to take this fight to the mat. Gabe’s Call: Story by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-28, 30-27) Women’s Bantamweight bout: Jessamyn Duke (+110) vs Leslie Smith (-140) Gabe’s Thoughts: Duke is the larger fighter, as Smith has made flyweight in the past, but I believe it is Smith who packs more power. I feel Smith will be the aggressor on the feet and think this one will play out a lot like Duke’s last bout, where she came up short against Bethe Correira. I give Smith the mental edge, as well, and believe she has the bigger heart, should it come down to that in the third and final round. Gabe’s Call: Smith by Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) Women’s Strawweight bout: Claudia Gadelha (-400) vs Tina Lahdemaki (+325) Gabe’s Thoughts: Simply put, I think Gadelha is going to control the Fin for 15 minutes of action en route to a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. Lahdemaki is undefeated as both a professional and an amateur, and has been impressive, but I don’t believe she is a threat to Gadelha. Gabe’s Call: Gadelha by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Story (-280) parlayed with Duke/Smith Over 2.5 rounds (-280) and Gadelha (-425) for +130 3u to win 3.9u
