WSOF 11’s Justin Gaethje: ‘Nick Newell is no different than anybody I’ve fought’

MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with World Series of Fighting 11 lightweight Justin Gaethje as he prepares for his main event title bout this Saturday (July 5, 2014) against Nick Newell at the Ocean Center in Daytona, Florida.

The current WSOF lightweight champion understands that all eyes will be on this bout considering his opponent, and he’s hoping everyone gives both fighters the proper respect:

“If you look at Newell, he’s 11-0, if you look at my record, I’m 11-0 with nine knockouts and one submission. If I go out there and destroy Nick Newell, it’s no different than anybody I’ve ever fought. It’s not because he doesn’t have an arm or anything. I’ve finished a bunch of people real quick. Or if he goes out and puts me away, it’s the same thing. It takes one shot. Hopefully he’s trying to land it other than just take me down. If he takes me down, I’ll be fine. I hope he tries to punch me and knee me and elbow me and all that stuff. “
