Overall, either favorites cashes while one underdog won and one fight closed as a Pick ’em. Here’s a betting recap for UFC Fight Night 43 based on the closing results at Several Bookmakers. Underdogs That Won In the main event of the evening, Nate Marquardt defeated James Te Huna via first-round submission (armbar). Marquardt dominated Te Huna on the ground and finished the first round off with a beautiful armbar for the win. Marquardt cashed as a +175 dog (bet $100 to win $175), while Te Huna lost as a -190 favorite (bet $190 to win $100). Favorites That Won In the co-main event of the evening, Jared Rosholt defeated Soa Palelei via unanimous decision (30-27 x 3). Rosholt used his wrestling to control Palelei and grind out the decision. Rosholt was -160, Palelei +150. In a featherweight bout, Charles Oliveira defeated Hatsu Hioki via second-round submission (guillotine choke). Oliveira and Hioki put on an amazing grappling fight but Oliveira was the one who came out on top when he locked in a wicked sub in round two for the win. Oliveira was -200 and Hioki was +185. In a welterweight contest, Robert Whittaker defeated Mike Rhodes via unanimous decision (30-27 x 3). Whittaker was the better striker throughout the three rounds and deserved to get the win. Whittaker was -250 and Rhodes was +230. In a lightweight bout, Jake Matthews defeated Dashon Johnson via third-round submission (triangle choke). Matthews was brilliant throughout the contest and finished in the third for good measure. Matthews cashed at -165 while Johnson lost at +155. In a flyweight bout, Richie Vaculik defeated Roldan Sangcha-an via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28 x 2). Vaculik controlled the fight with his wrestling to take home the decision. Vaculik was -125 and his opponent was +115. In a welterweight bout, Neil Magny defeated Rodrigo de Lima via second-round KO (punches). Magny was dominated on the ground in the first round but came back with a fire in the second round and won via highlight-reel knockout. Magny was -290, de Lima +260. In a featherweight bout, Dan Hooker defeated Ian Entwhistle via first-round TKO (elbows). Entwhistle had his signature heel hook locked in but Hooker managed to avoid being submitted and then pounded out his opponent en route to a stoppage victory. Hooker was -115 and Entwhistle was +105. In a light heavyweight contest that won Fight of the Night, Giant Villante defeated Sean O’Connell via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). This was a very spirited affair between two heavy-hitting 205ers but ultimately Villante did more with his strikes to take home the decision. Villante was -265 while O’Connell was +245. Pick ‘Em Fights In the only Pick ’em fight on the card, Vik Grujic defeated Chris Indich via first-round TKO (punches). The round was competitive right up until the final 10 seconds, when Grujic landed some massive punches that put Indich out cold. Both fighters closed at -105.
