MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with One FC 16 welterweight Ben Askren as he prepares for his headlining bout tomorrow (May 30, 2014) against Bakhtiyar Abbasov at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.
The former Olympic wrestler and Bellator welterweight champion didn’t get an opportunity to sign with the UFC, but that doesn’t mean he’s not going to talk about the current champion of the promotion:
“I don’t like anything about Johny Hendricks. He’s gonna hit me hard, but that’s what he does. He’s got strong punching. That’s been shown. If there’s one thing, I think his wrestling has gone way downhill. I’ve seen him give up takedowns in fights and I think, ‘Wow’ because he was legitimately good in college. He was very difficult to score on so I think that part of his game has gone way downhill. I’ve seen him have questionable cardio in a few fights, mainly the Condit one, so definitely I would love to fight him. Win, lose, or draw, I’d be happy for a chance to go kick his ass”
