UFC 173’s Jamie Varner: ‘All the fights I’ve lost, I’d been winning. I just got caught’

MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC 173 lightweight Jamie Varner as he prepares for his main card bout this Saturday (May 24, 2014) against James Krause at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The former WEC lightweight champion has had a very memorable second stint with the UFC, and he feels that he’s been in a good position during every bout thus far in his Zuffa career:

“All the fights I’ve lost, I’d been winning. I just got caught. Go through my whole record. There has not been a fight, at least since I’ve been under Zuffa, there has not been a fight where I got my butt kicked. Not in the WEC or UFC. It was just I was going hard and I got caught. I have a problem I try and go so hard. I have that old school wrestling mentality, Iowa-style, constantly go, go, go, get the pin and score more points. I never knew how to pace myself and relax. I always look for the finish.”
