In case you’ve been living under a rock the past 24 hours, the Bellator MMA Pay-Per-View, scheduled to take place this Saturday (May 17, 2014) is in jeopardy following a report concerning headliner Eddie Alvarez likely being forced from the card. The promotion announced a conference call for 6 pm ET today and yours truly will be on the line to provide all the latest updates on the situation and how it could affect Saturday’s fight card. Stay tuned! All updates will be posted below: Bjorn Rebney: Eddie Alvarez officially pulled out of the fight this morning. We lost a big piece, but we still have a huge fight. Rampage vs King Mo is going to headline this card. The pay-per-view is still going to go forward as planned. What I’m thrilled to announce is Michael Chandler will remain on this card and he’s going to fight Will Brooks for the interim lightweight title. I have so much respect for Will Brooks. We’re moving Alexander Volkov vs Blagoi Ivanov to the main card. Michael Chandler: It’s been a wild ride, a wild range of emotions. There’s going to be fireworks going on this Saturday night. My hat’s off to Will Brooks for stepping up. I’m excited to step into the cage with him. Will Brooks: Come Saturday night, for me, I’m ready to fight anybody. When I got the phone call to take this fight, I didn’t hesitate. We train to get better every single day as a fighter at American Top Team. This is a great opportunity to test those skills. I did want to take a fight to get ready for Chandler and Alvarez, but if this opportunity comes up, you have to jump in the fire. I think I have the skill to beat Michael Chandler and Saturday night I’ll have the opportunity to show it. Bjorn Rebney: I remain incredibly excited for this card. Things work in mysterious ways and hopefully we’ll get that fight in the future. Bjorn Rebney: Just like the Dantas situation, you can’t answer how soon he’ll be back. We don’t know. We haven’t gotten the medical reports yet but with any kind of brain injury, you have to be careful. It’s very, very difficult to tell. The last place you want to do any guess work with an injury is with the brain. Will Brooks: You’re a fool if you ask if this is pay-per-view worthy. When u ask this, you’re making it sound like you’re a cheap ass and devalue fighters.
