UFC Fight Night 36’s Gegard Mousasi: ‘I expect Lyoto Machida to go for the takedown’

MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 36 middleweight Gegard Mousasi as he prepares for main event bout Saturday night (Feb. 15, 2014) against Lyoto Machida at the Arena Jaraguá in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil.

The talented former Dream and Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion is a stand-up striking specialist, but he’s expecting his upcoming opponent to shift up his gameplan rather than standing and striking.

“I think for sure if [Lyoto Machida] can get the takedown, he will do it and so will I. It’s an advantage to be in top position on the ground. If there’s a possibility, I will take it to the ground and for sure he will do it too. I’m expecting him to go more for the takedown this fight.”
