Last night at UFC Fight Night 35 a number of crazy things happened that few people expected, and for today’s MMA Odds and Ends I’ll take a look at five of the craziest prop bets on the card to cash out big. Luke Rockhold wins by T/KO (+350)/wins in round one (+400) In the main event of UFC Fight Night 35, Luke Rockhold absolutely obliterated Costas Philippou with a first-round liver kick to finally pick up his first win inside the Octagon. It was an epic knockout for Rockhold, who won the evening’s “KO of the Night” award, and the prop bet on Rockhold to win by T/KO cashed out at +350. As well, the prop bet on Rockhold to win in round one cashed out at +400. Congrats if you hit either/or. Yoel Romero wins in round three (+800) In what turned out to be the “Fight of the Night” at UFC Fight Night 35, Yoel Romero came back after being down two rounds to Derek Brunson to finish his opponent off late in round three with one of the most brutal body-shot stoppages we have ever seen in the Octagon. The prop bet on Romero to win in the third round cashed out at +800, which is pretty high in hindsight when you consider Romero’s last outing against Ronny Markes also ended in his favor in round three. A great fight, and a great win for Romero, who will continue to move up the 185-pound ladder. Trevor Smith wins by decision (+655) In a middleweight bout, Trevor Smith and Brian Houston went three rounds, and while the fight was competitive, Smith definitely did enough to earn the split decision win. The prop bet on Smith to win by decision cashed out at a rather large +655, so if you had the foresight to predict this outcome — and lay down cash on it — great job. Louis Smolka wins by decision (+610) In a flyweight bout that tore the roof off, Louis Smolka and Alp Ozkelic enjoyed a back-and-forth rumble that saw Smolka overcome the odds and win a decision. The prop bet on this decision paid out at a massive +610, so if you made a bet on that one you did a great job. Vinc Pichel wins by decision (+365) In a preliminary card lightweight bout, Vinc Pichel defeated Garrett Whiteley via unanimous decision. It was Pichel’s first win in the Octagon, and he did it by decision even though most thought he’d get it done by T/KO. The prop bet on Pichel to win a decision hit at +365, so nice job if you got that one.
