As is customary for the UFC, they plan to make a splash over the holiday season with their year end card. UFC 168 is following that blueprint to such a ‘T’ that the organization has even seen fit to jack up the price of their PPVs for this card. With the greatest fighter of all time on the card, and the biggest female star in the sport today headlining the card and that extra $5 shouldn’t mean much to the eventual buyrate of the card. Factor in that Anderson Silva and Ronda Rousey both find themselves in rematches against massive rivals, and this card is sure to draw in far more than just the hardcore MMA fan. These fights are so big that betting odds have been out for over five months for each. They have settled in to two very different types of lines. Silva is currently a slight -150 favorite (bet $150 to win $100) against defending UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, who sits at +130 (bet $100 to win $130). Rousey is expected to continue her arm-by-arm domination of the women’s bantamweight division, as she is a monstrous -1000 favorite over Tate, who comes into this bout off a loss and is getting very little respect from the public at +650. Today, MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas added to these lines by opening the remaining main card bouts at Several Bookmakers.
