MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC on Fox 9 lightweight Court McGee as he prepares for his preliminary card bout tonight (Dec. 14, 2013) against Ryan LaFlare at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.
The 16-fight UFC veteran is known for having some solid boxing skills inside the Octagon, and he’ll need them if he wants to avoid getting into a brawl with the wild and unorthodox Cody McKenzie:
“With a guy like [McKenzie], what you really want to watch out for is him landing a big, lucky shot. Keeping a tight guard, keeping your hands up, being defensive and technical I think is the way to beat him and not getting sucked into a slugfest. Throw your punches straight down the middle. If he’s throwing a big, looping punch and I’m throwing one straight down the middle, mine’s gonna get there first.”
