MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC on Fox 9 lightweight Mac Danzig as he prepares for his main card bout this weekend (Dec. 14, 2013) against Joe Lauzon at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.
The former winner of The Ultimate Fighter season six is coming off two straight losses, and he’s approaching this fight against Lauzon with a significantly altered mentality:
“Any time you’re dealing with a loss, it’s rough. It’s the lowest of the low for a fighter. I wasn’t really sure if I was gonna continue with MMA after the last fight to be honest with you. After accepting that and accepting that it might have been my last fight, I ended up almost having a rebirth type of thing. This is a chance to start something new. This is a chance to do things a little bit differently and have fun with it finally. So that’s the way I’m looking at it. I’m not killing myself in there. If I spar a lot and I start taking some shots and it’s not meshing with how I feel and it’s not bringing me up confidence-wise, then I don’t do it. I’m not putting myself through the ringer. I’ve been doing that for over a decade. I’m done with doing that. I’m gonna go have fun.”
