MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC on Fox 9 featherweight Chad Mendes as he prepares for his main card bout this weekend (Dec. 14, 2013) against Nik Lentz at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California
The Team Alpha Male fighter is fighting in his backyard this weekend, and he’s entering his bout against Nik Lentz with a ton of confidence:
“I think [Nik Lentz] is the most dangerous just being a grinder. I don’t see him being dangerous really anywhere. He doesn’t have a lot of power on the feet. His stand-up is kind of awkward. He’s slow, but he looks really strong. He’s cutting down from 155 so I’ve been watching a lot of film on him and it seems like everytime he grabs his opponents it looks like he freezes on them, they’re stuck. It looks like he’s pretty strong, but like I said, he’s slow. His shots aren’t very explosive, his punches aren’t very explosive. He basically wins by backing guys against the cage, grabbing on to ’em, smothering them and then getting them down to the ground and grinding ’em out.”
