Bellator 109’s Doug Marshall: ‘I don’t see how Alexander Shlemenko can beat me’

MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 109 middleweight Doug Marshall as he prepares for his headlining title bout on Friday night (Nov. 22, 2013) against Alexander Shlemenko at the Sands Casino Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The former WEC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion is getting a fresh opportunity to earn a new belt this weekend, this time at a new weight class.

“As far as him being some devastating striker or fighter in general, I wouldn’t put that on his resume…Don’t get me wrong, I’m selling a fight. I have respect for that fighter but as far as him knocking me out, I don’t think he has the power. He’s tough but not tough enough. I saw Brett Cooper drop him 2-3 times and Cooper doesn’t carry the power I carry in my punches. I don’t see how he can beat me.”
