Lightweight title bout: Carlos Diego Ferreira (-200) vs Jorge Patino (+170) Fight Breakdown: The main event for the Legacy FC 25 main card tonight (Nov. 15, 2013) is between a bit of an odd couple, when submission ace Carlos Diego Ferreira faces off against veteran champion Jorge Patino for the Legacy FC Lightweight Title. The challenger Ferreira is currently the favorite heading into this match-up at -200 ($200 to win $100), while Patino is the underdog at +170 ($100 to win $170) at Several Bookmakerss. CARLOS DIEGO FERREIRA (8-0 MMA, 2-0 Legacy FC) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Chris Feist at Legacy FC 24, just over one month ago. The 28-year old Brazilian is now 2-0 inside the Legacy FC cage and is undefeated in his professional mixed martial arts career. He has eight wins overall with five of them coming by way of submission. Ferreira owns a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and is incredibly talented on the mat. He has a good chin, throws good leg kicks, and works beautiful takedowns, often quickly taking his opponents’ backs. He is very slick and quick on the ground and will capitalize on any split-second of an opening for a submission opportunity. To compliment his excellent submission game, he works a good ground and pound attack that gets opponents to give up their necks for a choke. Ferreira has decent conditioning and will be game for a three round war. JORGE PATINO (34-13-2-1 NC MMA, 3-0 Legacy FC) is a longtime veteran of the sport, at 40 years of age. He is undefeated inside the Legacy FC cage, owning notable victories over Mike Bronzoulis and Efrain Escudero. He will now look to defend his title against an undefeated Brazilian prospect out of Texas, and while not as experienced as his previous opponents, the Brazilian presents a much bigger threat. Patino is currently riding an eight-fight undefeated streak, and he will look to keep that streak alive, as he puts an end to Ferreira’s 8-0 run. Patino is without a doubt a finisher, as 20 of his 34 professional mixed martial arts career victories have come inside the distance; 14 by submission, and 10 by knockout. He is a well-rounded fighter who throws heavy leather. Patino is a well-conditioned 40-year old who will be ready to go the distance to defend his title against the young Brazilian. Fight Prediction: This will be a hard-fought battle by both men, but ultimately, I see Ferreira getting the better of the veteran en route to a close decision victory. Gabe’s Pick: Carlos Diego Ferreira by Split-Decision, (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Carlos Diego Ferreira -200 for a moderate play
