MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 106 lightweight Eddie Alvarez as he prepares for his title fight this weekend (Nov. 2, 2013) against Michael Chandler at The Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, California.
The talented Blackzilian has been on the sidelines for an extended period of time due to a contract dispute with Bellator, but he’s finally returning to the cage on Saturday in a rematch against Michael Chandler, the man who took his title. He doesn’t expect the time off to affect him, however:
“I don’t believe in ring rust so I don’t think it works on me. If you think about it too much and you actually believe in it and you go into the fight thinking about it then your performance will show. I’m one of those fighters that trains the way I fight and I get in more fights and battles inside the gym than I normally do when I get in the cage in front of the millions of viewers. I helped a lot of my friends and training partners get ready for their fights so I lived vicariously through them as well as during the training camp making sure I did the proper rounds and going against the proper partners that pushed me.”
