Lightweight bout: Carlos Diego Ferreira (-185) vs Chris Feist (+145) Fight Breakdown: The main event for the Legacy FC 24 main card is a lightweight scrap between a couple of grapplers as submission ace Carlos Diego Ferreira faces off against talented wrestler Chris Feist in a battle that will determine the number one contender for the Legacy FC lightweight title currently held by the champion Jorge Patino. Ferreira is the favorite heading into this match-up at -185 ($185 to win $100), while Feist is the underdog at +145 ($100 to win $145) at Several Bookmakerss. CARLOS DIEGO FERREIRA (7-0 MMA, 1-0 LFC) is coming off a unanimous decision win over journeyman and UFC veteran Carlo Prater at Legacy FC 20 only four months ago. The 28-year old Brazilian is undefeated in his professional mixed martial arts career with seven wins, five of them coming by way of submission. Ferreira owns a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and is a monster on the mat. He has a good chin, throws solid leg kicks, and works beautiful takedowns, often quickly taking his opponents’ backs. He is very slick and quick on the ground and will capitalize on any split-second of an opening for a submission opportunity. To compliment his excellent submission game, he works a good ground and pound attack that gets opponents to give up their necks for a choke. Ferreira’s conditioning is good enough for a three round fight, and he should be ready to go all fifteen minutes against Feist, who will be looking to take him down. CHRIS FEIST (8-0 MMA, 0-0 LFC) is making his promotional debut riding an eight fight winning streak, remaining undefeated as a pro. Feist was a high school state champion wrestler, but failed to meet similar goals while wrestling in college. He knows he did not give it his all in his college wrestling career, so he is dead-set on giving it 100 percent in every mixed martial arts bout he’s in. Feist is predominantly a wrestler, so he uses his wrestling to control his opponents as well as where the fight takes place. Under the tutelage of Marc Laimon at Team Takedown in Arlington, TX., Feist has developed solid jiu-jitsu skills, so he is also a threat in that department. His striking which did not exist before is not improving fight by fight. The Idaho native always fights with a lot of heart and has no quit in him. His gameplan going into this bout should be to take Ferreira down and avoid his submissions, and doing the ol’ lay-n-pray. He will have the size and wrestling advantage against Ferreira, so he might find success with takedowns. Fight Prediction: I think Ferreira will find success on the feet and has solid takedown defense, but I think Feist’s size, strength, and wrestling advantage may be enough to get the fight to the mat, where his superior wrestling will be in full display. That is, until Ferreira, who is being active from his guard, gets a reversal on Feist and manages to latch on to his back, securing a rear-naked-choke in the process. Gabe’s Pick: Carlos Diego Ferreira by Submission (rear-naked-choke, 4:42 round 1) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Carlos Diego Ferreira -185 for 2u
