It’s been two days now since UFC 166, and even two days later I still think it was one of the very best fight cards of the entire year, if not the best. It was also a big money-making opportunity, especially when it came to prop bets. Here’s a list of five crazy UFC 166 prop bets that cashed, courtesy of Several Bookmakers: Cain Velasquez Wins In Round 5 (+2125) Cain Velasquez beat Junior dos Santos silly for over 23 minutes until referee Herb Dean mercifully rescued the former champ with less to two minutes to go until the final bell. The prop bet on Velasquez to win in the fifth round cashed out at a massive +2125. I don’t know who was on this one for a bet, but if you were, I have to tip my hat to you since that is quite the hit! Gabriel Gonzaga Wins By T/KO (+404) In a main card heavyweight bout, Gabriel Gonzaga knocked out Shawn Jordan early in the first round to continue his march back up to the top of the heavyweight division’s ranks. The prop on Gonzaga to win by T/KO cashed out at an enormous +404, so if that was your bet, congrats because that was quite a nice haul. John Dodson Wins “Knockout of the Night” (+1200) There were tons of heavyweights on the UFC 166 card and because of that, little flyweight John Dodson went flying under the radar as a possible “Knockout of the Night” winner. The line on Dodson to win KOTN was +1200, so if you bet on this one, nice hit, because with the amount of heavyweights on the card, Dodson winning this was a surprise. Jessica Eye Wins By Three- Round Decision (+300) Although I personally thought she lost the fight, the judges said that Jessica Eye took home a split decision victory over Sarah Kaufman on the UFC 166 undercard, and it’s a win that really ups her stock in the UFC women’s bantamweight division The prop on Eye to win by decision was +300, and if you saw my recommended undercard prop bets article last week, you would have cashed out on this one. Tony Ferguson Wins By Submission (+897)/Ferguson Wins “Submission of the Night” (+1500) Tony Ferguson returned from a 17-month layoff to submit Mike Rio on the Facebook prelims of UFC 166 in one of the most impressive performances of the evening. No one was expecting Ferguson to win by sub, so that prop went undervalued at +897. As well, since he was the only fighter with a sub at UFC 166, he took home the “Submission of the Night” trophy and that prop bet cashed out at a giant +1500.
