The UFC today announced it has added a featherweight matchup between Matt Grice and Jeremy Larsen to the stacked UFC 166 card. UFC 166 takes place October 19 at Toyota Center in Houston, TX, and the main event of the evening features Cain Velasquez defending the UFC heavyweight title against Junior dos Santos. The Grice vs. Larsen fight is expected to be a preliminary card bout. This is an exciting matchup on paper that makes a lot of sense with both men coming off of losses in “Fight of the Night” performances, Grice to Dennis Bermudez at UFC 157 and Larsen to Lucas Martins at UFC on FX 8. It’s a close match on paper, but I would have to lean towards Grice as he is a more complete fighter and he has much more experience in the Octagon, although Larsen shouldn’t be slept on. I’ve been high on Grice for a long time and if I can get him at under -200 in this fight I will likely be making a small play on him, likely in a parlay with another one or two of the bigger favorites on the card. Arantes vs. Souza Booked The UFC today booked a featherweight matchup between Felipe Arantes and Octagon newcomer Edimilson Souza to UFC Fight Night 28 after Sam Sicilia was forced to pull out of the fight with Arantes due to an injury, according to a report from MMAFighting.com. I don’t know much about Edimilson but I do know that Arantes is an absolute stud and deserves the respect of bettors after his recent TKO win over Godofredo Pepey at UFC on FUEL TV 10. As such, I set Arantes at -250 for this fight and I will likely look to play him unless I watch more tape on Edimilson and really like what I see.
