MMA Odds and Ends for Monday: McMann Out Of Kaufman Fight

Sara McMann 2 Sara McMann is injured and out of her upcoming women’s bantamweight bout against Sarah Kaufman at UFC Fight Night 27, according to a report from MMAjunkie.com. The UFC is now trying to secure a replacement opponent for McMann, who was expected to jump into the title picture had she defeated Kaufman. It’s possible the UFC gets one of Liz Carmouche, Amanda Nunes or Germaine de Randamie to step in for McMann, as each woman picked up their respective first UFC victory in the past two weeks. It’s disappointing McMann is out of the fight with Kaufman because it was an intriguing match with title implications but injuries are a part of the sport and hopefully the UFC can secure a suitable replacement. Delorme vs. Caceres Booked For UFC 165 The UFC added a bantamweight bout between Canadian Roland Delorme and Alex Caceres to UFC 165, which is set for September 21 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is a fun fight between two submission fighters and it will likely be in play for the FOTN award at UFC 165. Because of the hometown advantage and because Caceres is coming off a drug suspension I do lean Delorme ever so slightly, but it’s a close fight and I’ll likely pass on a bet. Roop vs. Rivera Added To UFC 166 Additionally, a bantamweight bout between George Roop and Francisco Rivera was added to UFC 166, which takes place October 19 in Houston, TX. This is a very good matchup on paper between strikers coming off of knockout wins, Roop over Brian Bowles at UFC 160 and Rivera over Edwin Figueroa at UFC 156. Expect this fight to open close to a pick but it’s likely the public is going to be on the Roop hype train as he’s looked great since dropping to 135, and if that’s the case then Rivera backers will likely get a good price on him. Personally, I have no lean for this fight other than I don’t see it going the distance.
