LFA 57 takes place at 1STBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado on Friday (Jan. 18, 2019) at 10pm ET live on AXS TV. Two of the best featherweight prospects in North America clash in the main event as Factory-X standout Youssef Zalal faces Jose Mariscal.
Zalal (6-0) gets a quick turnaround as he made short work of late replacement Steven Merrill at LFA 56, submitting him in the first round. The 22-year-old has finished all of his six career opponents. Mariscal (8-3) has won five of his last seven fights with his lone setback coming against UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell. The 26-year-old is coming off a first-round submission win over Lerryan Douglas in November and will be making his promotional debut.
Here’s my interview with Zalal
In the co-main event, Contender Series veteran Anthony Adams faces Josh Cavan
Adams (7-1) drops back down to the welterweight division and is coming off his first career loss to Chibwikem Onyenegecha by split decision on Contender Series back in July. The Thomas Denny trained fighter looks to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time in his career. Cavan (15-7) heads into his LFA debut on a four fight win streak but hasn’t competed since a Oct. 2017 submission win over LT Nelson at SCL 62. The 35-year-old has fought the likes of former UFC fighters Joe Riggs, Brian Camozzi and Chris Heatherly.
