Mixed Martial Arts Veteran Recap: December 2018

At the beginning of every month, I feature my recurring “Veteran Watch” article, which takes a look at some notable veterans competing on the regional/overseas circuit. In this article, I recap how these veteran fighters fared in their respective bouts for the month of December.


Serbian Battle Championship 19 – Dec. 1 (Novi Sad, Serbia)


Satoshi Ishii def. Tony Lopez via submission (leg scissor choke) at 4:23, RD. 1
Former Bellator light heavyweight Ishii earns his third straight win while Lopez loses back-to-back fights.


Total Warrior Combat – Dec. 1 (Lansing, Michigan)


Zach Shaw def. Charles Bennett via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:29. RD. 1 
Shaw has now won three of his last four fights while Bennett has now lost 10-fights in a row.

 

Unified MMA 35 – Dec. 7 (Enoch, Alberta) 


Dominique Steele def. Teddy Ash via TKO (punches) at 4:51, RD. 1.
Steele has now won four of his last six fights. Ash meanwhile has his six fight win streak snapped.


EFC Worldwide 76 – Dec. 8 (Pretoria, South Africa) 


Jared Vanderaa def. Ruan Potts via TKO (punches) at 3:25, RD. 3

Vanderaa earns his second straight while while Potts has his three-fight win streak snapped.


Cage Warriors 100 – Dec. 8 (Cardiff, Wales) 


Nicolas Dalby def. Philip Mulpeter via TKO (punches) at 3:32, RD. 3
Former UFC welterweight Dalby earns back-to-back wins for the first time since May 2015 while Mulpeter has his two-fight win streak snapped.


Road FC 51 – Dec. 15 (Seoul, South Korea) 


Seo Hee Ham def. Jung Eun Park via unanimous decision
UFC veteran Ham pikcs up her third straight win while Park meanwhile has now lost three of her last four fights.


Babilon MMA 6 – Dec. 15 (Raszyn, Poland)


Daniel Skibinski def. Pawel Pawlak via unanimous decision
Skinbinski picks up his seventh straight win while Pawlak has his three-fight win streak snapped.


RCC 5 – Dec. 15 (Ekaterinburg, Russia)


Alexander Shlemenko def. Jonas Billstein via submission (guillotine choke) at 1:17, RD. 2
Former Bellator middleweight champion Shlemenko snaps his three-fight losing streak while Bilstein has his six-fight unbeaten streak snapped.


Francimar Barroso def. Mikhail Mokhnatkin via unanimous decision

PFL heavyweight Barroso is now unbeaten in his last four fights while Mokhnatkin drops to 2-2 in his last four fights.


Georgiy Kichigin def. Rousimar Palhares via TKO (punch) at 3:52, RD. 1 

Kichigin earns his 14th win in a row while Palhares suffers back-to-back losses.


Diego Brandao def. Vener Galiev via TKO at 0:50, RD. 1

Brandao has now won two of his last three fights while Galiev drops to 2-2 in his last four fights.


Ivan Shtyrokov def. Thiago Silva via submission (armbar) at 2:20, RD. 1 

Shytyrokov is now unbeaten in his last 16-fights while Silva has lost two of his last three fights.


Magomedsaygid Alibekov def. Shane Campbell via unanimous decision

Shytyrokov bounces back from his first career loss by taking out UFC veteran Campbell. Speaking of the Canadian, he has his four-fight win streak snapped.


Fury FC 28: Black Tie MMA – Dec. 15 (Humble, Texas) 


Daniel Pineda def. Elias Rodriguez via submission (guillotine choke) at 0:54, RD. 1 

Former UFC/Bellator lightweight Pineda is now 7-2 in his last nine fights and earns his third straight win. Rodriguez suffers his first career loss.


Invicta FC 33 – Dec. 15 (Kansas City, Missouri)


Danielle Taylor def. Monsterrat Ruiz via unanimous decision
Taylor snaps her two-fight win streak and earns her first win since April 2017. Ruiz meanwhile suffers her first career loss.


Brianna Van Buren def. Jamie Moyle via unanimous decision
Van Buren earns her first win under the Invicta FC banner while Moyle suffers her third straight loss.

 

Island Fights 51 – Dec. 21 (Pensacola, Florida) 


Chase Sherman def. Frank Tate via TKO RD. 1 

Former UFC heavyweight Sherman snaps his three-fight losing streak and earns his first win since July 2017. Tate meanwhile has lost two of his last three fights.


PFL #11 – Dec. 31 (New York, NY) 


Phillipe Lins def. Josh Copeland via TKO (Knees from Clinch) at 0:30, RD. 4

Lins wins his fourth fight in a row and takes home both the 1 million dollar prize along with the heavyweight title.


Sean O’Connell def. Vinny Magalhaes via TKO (Retirement) 

O’Connell earns his fourth win in his last five fights. The UFC veteran wins the light heavyweight title and the 1 million dollar prize.


Nathan Shulte def. Rashid Magomedov via Unanimous Decision

Shulte is now unbeaten in his last five fights and takes home the lightweight title. UFC veteran Magomedov meanwhile has his three-fight win streak snapped.


Lance Palmer def. Steven Siler via unanimous decision 

Palmer has now won seven of his last eight fights and takes home the 1 million dollar prize. UFC veteran Siler meanwhile has his four fight unbeaten streak snapped.
