UFC Fight Night 140 Closing Odds and Betting Results


UFC Fight Night 140 took place Saturday, November 17, 2018 in Argentina. The card was headlined by the welterweight fight between Santiago Ponzinibbio and Neil Magny.

Favorites that Won

Hometown hero Santiago Ponzinibbio landed a devastating leg kick, then came up the middle with a powerful straight punch that put Neil Magny down for the count. Ponzinibbio was victorious in the fourth round as a -220 betting favorite while Magny was a +180 underdog.

Ricardo Lamas landed brutal ground and pound against Darren Elkins, eventually earning a third round TKO finish. Lamas closed as a -175 favorite while the comeback on Elkins was +155.

Marlon Vera smoked Guido Cannetti, earning a second round submission victory via rear naked choke. Vera was victorious as a heavy -320 betting favorite while Cannetti was +260.

Size matters not as Michel Prazeres quickly took down Bartosz Fabinski, then latched onto a nasty guillotine choke to force a first round submission. Prazeres was a -145 favorite while Fabinski was +125.

Alexandre Pantoja was too much for Ulka Sasaki, earning a first round submission and cementing the oddsmakers correct who deemed him a -320 betting favorite. Sasaki was a +260 dog.

Jesus Pinedo was too much for Devin Powell, earning a unanimous decision victory over the American. Pinedo was victorious as a -240 favorite while Powell was a +200 underdog.

In the opening bout of the evening, featherweight Nad Narimani cruised to an easy decision victory against an overmatched late notice opponent Anderson Dos Santos. Narimani won as a -385 betting favorite while Dos Santos was +320.

Underdogs that Won

Johnny Walker landed some devastating elbows in the clinch to knock out Khalil Rountree in the first round. Walker closed as a +140 underdog while Rountree was -160.

Ian Heinisch overcame the odds to earn a unanimous decision victory against dangerous grappler Cesar Ferreira. Heinisch was a +150 underdog while Ferreira was -180.

Cynthia Calvillo may have missed weight and been coming off a drug suspension, but her ground game was still far too much for Poliana Botelho, earning a late first round submission victory. Calvillo was +155 while Botelho was -180.

Austin Arnett was too much for Humberto Bandanay, winning two out of three rounds to take a unanimous decision despite being a sizable +195 underdog. Bandanay lost as a -235 favorite.

Argentina’s Laureano Strapoli overcame some slight underdog odds to outwork Hector Aldana and win a decision in his UFC debut. Strapoli was a +105 underdog while Aldana was a -125 favorite.
