Five Props is a column featured on MMAOddsbreaker.com after every major MMA event that highlights the biggest underdog prop bets to cash out from that card. Here are five UFC 229 bets that cashed big based on the closing odds from across various sportsbooks.
1) Scott Holtzman by Knockout (+825)
In his best performance ever in the UFC, Scott Holtzman dominated Brazilian Alan Patrick eventually knocking him out with ground and pound in the third round. The huge victory paid out +825 to knockout bettors and was the biggest prop cash of the night.
2) Tony Martin by Knockout (+600)
His move up to welterweight has paid dividends as Tony Martin has improved to 2-0 at the new weight after landing a tremendous head kick flush knocking out Ryan LaFlare in the third round. Martin by knockout paid out +600.
3) Tony Ferguson by Knockout (+550) In the evening’s co-main event, Tony Ferguson showed that he’s the true top contender for the lightweight belt as his constant pressure and volume striking was too much for Anthony Pettis to handle. Ferguson won by corner stoppage after the second round which results in a TKO victory paying out bettors +550.
4) Nik Lentz by Knockout (+420) Nik Lentz struck early and often in his bout with Gray Maynard. It was only a matter of time before he landed the decisive shot. That was in the second round when he landed a head kick and followed up with punches. Lentz by knockout paid +420.
5) Aspen Ladd by Knockout (+375) Tasked with fighting the former featherweight title challenger was no easy task, but Aspen Ladd make it look that way as she brutalized Tonya Evinger with ground and pound to win by first round stoppage. Ladd is on the rise in the UFC and prop bettors will struggle to find a better price than +375 by knockout again.
A $100 parlay on these five props would have netted $1,039,461.
