While Bellator has surely put on some freakshow fights in the past, tonight’s (Saturday, September 29, 2018) card is very good and full of exciting fights.
For the headliner of the card Gegard Mousasi is looking to start his dominant run as Bellator’s recently newly crowned middleweight champion as he puts his gold up for grabs against Rory MacDonald. I always enjoy watching both of these guys fight whenever comes the chance, especially Gegard Mousasi who has accomplished about everything there is to grab in this crazy sport. MacDonald was slated to be the next GSP in his early years but just hasn’t been able to reach championship gold yet. I’m not sure this weekend will change MacDonald’s career either. While both are close on paper in height and reach, Mousasi is still just a bigger man and MacDonald is moving up a weight class too. Mousasi is also just a way better fighter especially with his lethal jab. If he doesn’t break MacDonald’s surgically repaired nose with a jab standing, then he very well may do it on the ground after a takedown where he has the edge over about every fighter he competes against. I don’t think MacDonald can last all twenty-five minutes in the cage with Mousasi so I’m picking the champion to successfully defend his title with a TKO finish on the ground.
