Glory 59 takes place Saturday, September 29th at Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands. .
The main event sees Glory heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven (54-10) put his belt on the line against challenger Guto Inocente (35-8). Verhoeven has an incredible 17-1 record in Glory and has won 10 straight fights, winning the title at Glory 17 in June of 2014 and defending the belt successfully seven times, most recently earning a unanimous decision victory against Mladen Brestovac this past June. The veteran Inocente has gone 6-1 in Glory and also has a history as a mixed martial arts fighter, competing in both Strikeforce and the UFC briefly. He most recently won a unanimous decision against Junior Tafa at Glory 50 this past February to win the Glory Heavyweight Contender Tournament semifinals, but couldn’t compete in the finals due to an injury.
The co-main event sees the Glory featherweight champion Robin Van Roosmalin (51-17) battle veteran Thai challenger Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao (157-36-2) for the Glory featherweight title. Van Roosmalin is 16-3 in Glory. He is a former Glory lightweight champion and won the featherweight title at Glory 34 in October of 2016. After being stripped of the belt for missing weight, he won the championship again at Glory 41 last May and has successfully defended the belt twice, most recently earning a unanimous decision over Kevin VanNostrand at Glory 52 in March. Kiatmookao is 7-1 in Glory with his one loss in the promotion being against Van Roosmalin via majority decision last May. He was crowned the interim featherweight champion at Glory 55 this past May with a split decision victory over VanNostrand after Van Roosmalin pulled out of the rematch with a shoulder injury.
