MMA Odds and Ends for Wednesday: New UFC Bouts Announced

A couple new UFC bouts have been revealed for upcoming fight cards, and here they are along with my initial thoughts on them.

Jason Knight vs. Jordan Rinaldi, UFC 230

A pair of featherweights will fight at UFC 230 when Jason Knight takes on Jordan Rinaldi. The card takes place Saturday, November 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. Newsday first reported the matchup. Knight (20-5) has just a 4-4 record in the UFC and has been a disappointment as of late as he’s lost three straight bouts. Rinaldi (13-6) has also been a disappointment in the UFC as he’s just 1-2 and is coming off of a TKO loss to Gregor Gillespie. Despite his recent losing streak I believe it’s clear Knight is the better fighter and should be the favorite here.

Chas Skelly vs. Bobby Moffett, UFC Fight Night 139

Featherweights Chas Skelly and Bobby Moffett are on tap for a bout at UFC Fight Night 139, which goes down Saturday, November 10 at Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. The UFC has confirmed the bout. Skelly (17-3) is 6-3 overall in the UFC and is coming off of a TKO loss to Jason Knight over a year ago at UFC 211. Moffett (13-3) is coming off of three straight wins including a victory on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series that punched his ticket into the UFC. Although Skelly has a ton of Octagon experience I don’t like the long layoff and I would favor Moffett to get the win in his UFC debut.

Bartosz Fabinksi vs. Michel Prazeres, UFC Fight Night 140

Welterweights Bartosz Fabinski and Michel Prazeres will fight at UFC Fight Night 140, which goes down Saturday, November 17 at Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aries, Argentina. MMAbrasil.com broke the news. Fabinski (14-2) is 3-0 in the UFC and in his last bout he picked up a key win over Emil Meek to extend his winning streak to seven fights in a row. Prazeres (25-2) is an impressive 9-2 in the UFC and is on a seven-fight win streak with a decision over Zak Cummings his last time out. This is a close fight but I tend to favor the bigger fighter in Fabinski.

Claudio Puelles vs. Devin Powell, UFC Fight Night 140

UFC Fight Night 140 will also feature a lightweight contest between Claudio Puelles and Devin Powell. El Comercio broke the news. Puelles (8-2) is 1-1 in the UFC with a kneebar submission over Felipe Silva in his last fight. Powell (9-3) is 1-2 in the UFC and is coming off of a TKO win over Alvaro Herrera. Another close fight but I’d slightly lean towards Puelles at this point.

Aleksandar Rakic vs. Devin Clark, UFC 231

Light heavyweights Aleksandar Rakic and Devin Clark will compete at UFC 231, which goes down Saturday, December 8 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The UFC has officially confirmed the bout. Rakic (10-1) is 2-0 in the UFC and is coming off of a historic beatdown over Justin Ledet. Clark (9-2) is 3-2 in the UFC and beat Mike Rodriguez by decision in his last outing. Based on how dominant Rakic was against Ledet I think it’s fair to expect him to be a monster favorite here.
