Another fighter has been nabbed by USADA for a potential anti-doping violation, and I’ll give my thoughts on that in today’s MMA odds and ends.
Brad Scott Flagged By USADA For Potential Anti-Doping Violation
UFC middleweight fighter Brad Scott has been flagged by USADA for a potential anti-doping violation following a failed in-competition test in relation to his recent bout against Carlo Pedersoli Jr. at UFC Liverpool. The UFC released a statement on the matter. Scott lost the fight via split decision, but if USADA proves he was doping for this fight he could be suspended for upwards of a year and perhaps be cut by the UFC. The nature of the banned substance potentially used has not yet been revealed. Scott (11-6) has had an up-and-down UFC career to this point, and he may not get the chance to redeem himself. After a solid showing on TUF Smashes, Scott made it to the finale of the show and lost a decision to Robert Whittaker, who would later go on to become a star and a champion in the middleweight division. Since that fight in December 2012, Scott is just 3-5 in the UFC and he’s lost his last two fights. His best performance argubaly came when he tapped out Dylan Andrews in 2015 but since that fight he’s lost three of four and was likely going to get the boot from the UFC roster even before this potential USADA violation. If Scott is indeed released, he may very well head back over the pond back to his native England, where he could potentially compete for Cage Warriors, where he used to fight in before he joined the UFC, or maybe BAMMA. Bellator, who have been doing shows in England the last few years, may also be interested. Of course, we’ll first have to see how this USADA thing plays out for Scott, but regardless of what ultimately happens, it’s never a good thing to get flagged.
