My Fights to AVOID betting are:
Women’s Flyweight bout: Barb Honchak (-175) vs. Roxanne Modaferri (+155)
Gabe’s Thoughts: Both these ladies are 0-1 in the UFC’s 125 pound division and will be looking to save their jobs in this potential “loser goes home” matchup. I think Honchak looked the worst she has ever looked in her last outing against Lauren Murphy, so there is no way I could back her in this fight at her currently offered price of -175. I think the fight is closer than the odds are suggesting, but I can’t justify a play on Modaferri at +155, either. I think this bout is left skipping at the sportsbooks come International Fight Week.
Gabe’s Call: Modaferri by Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
Featherweight bout: Matt Bessette (-145) vs. Steven Peterson (+125)
Gabe’s Thoughts: This is a likely “loser goes home” matchup in the UFC’s featherweight division, so I expect both 145-pounders to put it all out on the line in an effort to get their hand raised. I wouldn’t bet against either fighter at the current price, so I’m going to have to take a pass on betting this one. I think this scrap is best left avoided at your sportsbook next week.
