UFC on FOX 8: July 27, 2013 Seattle, Washington UFC Women’s Bantamweight Liz Carmouche Profile: Liz Carmouche (8-3) was involved in the first-ever women’s fight in UFC history, but she came out the loser in a fun fight against Ronda Rousey at UFC 157. Now she wants to get another shot at Rousey, but first she’ll have to pick up some wins and the first woman on her list is Jessica Andrade, who took this fight on short notice after Miesha Tate pulled out. If Carmouche wins this fight, she’ll keep herself relevant in the division, but if she loses she’ll drop out of the top 10 completely. UFC Women’s Bantamweight Jessica Andrade Profile: Jessica Andrade (9-2) was signed by the UFC after an injury to Miesha Tate forced her out of her matchup against Liz Carmouche on the upcoming UFC on FOX 8 card and now she’ll take on the former title contender on the main card. This is a big step up in competition for Andrade, and the last time she fought a woman the caliber of Carmouche, she lost when Jennifer Maia decisioned her last year. But since that loss to Maia, Andrade has won two-straight fights by submission. She’ll now be looking to work her way to a UFC title shot and it all starts with Carmouche. Opening UFC on FOX 8 Odds Analysis: MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas made Carmouche a huge -705 favorite (bet $705 to win $100) while Andrade opened as a +435 underdog (bet $100 to win $435) at Several Bookmakers sportsbook. This is a big matchup for both women as the UFC women’s bantamweight division is relatively shallow right now and one big win can shoot you way up the ladder. For Carmouche, it’s a good opportunity to bounce back against a smaller woman after losing to Rousey in her UFC debut, while for Andrade a win over someone like Carmouche will catapult her into the top 10 of the weight class. Both of these females are finishers and with the fight not likely to go the distance, the winner may come down to who can get the first punch or take advantage of the first mistake made on the ground.
