Featherweight bout: Jason Knight (-150) vs. Makwan Amirkhani (+130)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this is a close fight and it comes down to whether Knight can keep it standing or not. I expect Amirkhani to have improved cardio, otherwise I would have placed a wager on Knight in this 145-pound contest. I don’t trust either fighter to find success with their gameplans, so I can’t back either of them with my wallet this weekend, and I think it is best you don’t, either. There are plenty of fights worth betting on this card; I don’t think this is one of them.
Gabe’s Call: Knight by Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
Featherweight bout: Arnold Allen (-280) vs. Mads Burnell (+240)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I see this 145-pound scrap as a dog or pass situation, and I am ultimately opting to skip a play on the dog, though I have included him in my DraftKings line-up. I think this is a winnable fight for Burnell, who impressed in his latest outing, where he took a unanimous decision over Mike Santiago. This is a step up in competition for him, but I think it is a fight he could have similar results with. I could see Allen finishing this fight, but if it hits the cards, I could see it going either way. At +240, I can’t fault anybody for playing Burnell, though I can’t recommend it. I may end up throwing a stab on him for a fun gamble, but I can’t recommend him for a play, as I think this is a fight best left alone at the sportsbook this weekend.
