Invicta FC 29 takes place Friday, May 4 at Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri. The offshore sportsbooks recently opened up the odds for the card and here they are.
Invicta FC 29 Opening Odds
Sarah Kaufman -320
Katharina Lehner +240
My thoughts on the opening odds are as follows:
– The main event of Invicta FC 29 is a five-round fight for the vacant women’s bantamaweight belt between the prospect Kaufman and the undefeated Lehner. Kaufman (19-4, 1 NC) is one of the most experienced bantamweights in the female ranks. The 32-year-old Canadian is a UFC veteran and former Strikeforce champion and she is back to her winning ways after enduring a tough losing stretch in her career that saw her get let go by the UFC. In her last two bouts Kaufman has won a unanimous decision over Pannie Kianzad in Invicta as well as a unanimous decision over Jessica-Rose Clark in South Korea the fight before that. She’s finally back on the winning ways after going 1-2, 1 NC in the UFC and looks like she might be called back up to the big show if she can get a few more wins. Kaufman is a very well-rounded fighter with good wrestling and solid striking fundamentals and it’s nice to see her get some confidence back after getting surprisingly cut by the UFC. Lehner (7-0) is 1-0 in Invicta so far and at 28-years-old is an undefeated prospect out of Germany. She has won the majority of her fights by decision and most of her wins have come over lower-tiered opposition. In her Invicta FC debut about Alexa Conners she picked up her lone career TKO win. She’s a pretty strong girl and has had success overpowering weaker opposition. Honestly though I wasn’t too impressed with the tape I saw. I just think Kaufman is way too experienced and too well-rounded, plus she has plenty of experience preparing for five-round fights. I think Kaufman beats Lehner and wins this belt. Since it’s five rounds, I’d say there’s a good chance she could even get a late finish once Lehner tires out.
NOTE: The only odds out as of this time of posting were for Kaufman/Lehner. If and when more opening odds are dropped they will be added to the article.
