Glory 51 Rotterdam takes place at Rotterdam Ahoy in Rotterdam, ZH on Saturday (Mar. 3, 2018) at 1pm ET on UFC Fight Pass for the Super Fight Series and 3:30pm ET on ESPN 3 for the Main Event. The main event features a rematch nearly seven years in the making as Badr Hari faces off against Hesdy Gerges.
Hari (106-11-1, 2 NC) first fought Gerges in 2010 and was disqualified for kicking Gerges while he was grounded. Since then, the 17 year kickboxing veteran has earned notable wins over Peter Aerts and current UFC fighters Alistair Overeem and Golkhan Saki. The 33-year-old is coming off a TKO loss due to injury against Rico Verhoeven at Glory: Collision back in Dec. 2016. Gerges (50-19-1) will be looking to get back to his winning ways having lost five of his last six fights. The 34-year-old is coming off a knockout loss to Mladen BBrestovac at Glory 45 in September.
Two matchups in the welterweight tournament semi-finals are also featured on this card. First France’s Jimmy Vienot faces off against Eyevan Danenberg. Vienot (58-13) came up short in his Glory debut as he suffered a split decision setback against Alim Nabiyev at Glory 47 in October. Danenberg (26-6) is coming off back-to-back wins over Wellington Uega and most recently Jamie Bates at Glory 49 in December. “Mr. Cool” has gone 3-1 under the Glory banner.
In the other welterweight semi-final, Thongchai Sitsongpeenong squares off against Alan Scheinson. Sitsongpeenong (135-34) heads into this matchup off his first loss in the Glory ring as he suffered a TKO setback to Murthel Groenhart at Glory 38 in Feb. 2017. Scheinson (49-5) halted his two-fight skid in Glory after defeating Shanghai Gao by majority decision at Glory 46 in October.
