Gadelha vs Esparza at UFC 225
A women’s strawweight contest between top 115-pounders Claudia Gadelha and Carla Esparza was announced yesterday via the UFC. The bout will take place at UFC 225 on June 9th in Chicago, Illinois. Gadelha (15-3) most recently lost a decision to Jessica Andrade this past September. Esparza (13-4) is riding a two-fight win streak which includes an upset decision over top prospect Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 219.
Gadelha will likely open as a betting favorite, but Esparza has improved her striking in recent bouts and if Gadelha can’t fix her conditioning problems, the window is open for Esparza to take this.
