UFC Fight Night 126: Cowboy vs. Medeiros
Date: February 18
Arena: Frank Erwin Center
City: Austin, TX
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is headed back to Austin, TX for the third time in promotional history with UFC Fight Night 126: Cowboy vs. Medeiros. The 12 fight card is scheduled to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET. Prelims will continue on FOX Sports 1 at 7 p.m. and the main card will get going on the same channel at 9 p.m.
My Fights to AVOID betting are:
Heavyweight bout: Marcin Tybura (-145) vs. Derrick Lewis (+125)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this is a coin-flip matchup in the UFC’s heavyweight division, so I can’t fault anybody for taking a shot on Lewis at his underdog price of +125. There’s a bit of value there, but it isn’t enough for me, so this has to be a fight I avoid betting at the sportsbook come Sunday night. It should be a fun co-main event, and on a card with many plays I like, this is a good scrap to just kick back and enjoy.
Gabe’s Call: Lewis by T/KO (punches, 2:16, round 2)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
Middleweight bout: Oskar Piechota (-280) vs. Tim Williams (+240)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I agree with Poechota being the betting favorite in this contest, but I don’t quite agree with his current asking price of -280. I think we are looking at a dog or pass situation here and I am ultimately opting to take a pass on the underdog Williams. This is his official UFC debut, and while I think he holds value at +240, I can’t get myself to pull the trigger. This will be a fight I sit back and enjoy in hopes that it kicks the night of scraps off on a high note. To conclude, I pick Piechota to win, however I think Williams is a live dog, but apparently not live enough ‘cos I don’t think he’s worth betting in this spot.
Gabe’s Call: Piechota by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
