Mixed Martial Arts Veteran Recap: February 2018

At the beginning of every month, I feature my recurring “Veteran Watch” article, which takes a look at some notable veterans competing on the regional/overseas circuit. In this article, I recap how these veteran fighters fared in their respective bouts for the month of February. 

CES 48 – Feb. 2 (Lincoln, Rhode Island) 

Greg Rebello def. Travis Wiuff via TKO at 0:23, RD. 1 
Rebello captures the vacant CES heavyweight title while Wiuff has now lost four of his last six fights. 

Shamrock FC 302 – Feb. 3 (Kansas City, Missouri)

Bobby Voelker def. Bobby Emmons via TKO (Punches) at 3:46, RD. 1 
Voleker has now won six of his last seven fights while Simmons suffers his fifth setback in his last six fights. 

KOTC: Fight to the Finish – Feb. 3 (Lincoln City, Oregon)

Tony Lopez def. Fabiano Scherner via TKO at 1:11, RD. 3
Lopez has now won two of his last three fights while Scherner, who fought for the first time since June 2016, has now dropped two of his last three fights. 

Pancrase 293 – Feb 4 (Tokyo, Japan)

Akihiro Gono def. Kyohei Wakimoto via Split Decision 
Former UFC welterweight Gono snaps a two-fight skid, while Wakimoto suffers his first career loss. 

Island Fights 46: The Return of Roy Jones, Jr. – Feb. 8 (Pensacola, Florida) 

Brok Weaver def. Charles Bennett via Split Decision 
“Felony” has now lost seven straight fights while Weaver pushes his winning streak to four in a row. 

M-1 Challenge 87: Ashimov vs Silander – Feb. 9 (St. Petersburg, Russia)

Mickael Lebout (16-8-3) vs. Pavel Gordeev (9-1) 
Bout cancelled per Tapology

SCL 65: Destination – Feb. 10 (Denver, Colorado) 

Maurice Jackson def. Melvin Guillard via TKO in RD. 2
Jackson has now won six of his last seven fights while former UFC and Bellator lightweight Guillard is now winless in his last seven fights and has been knocked out in his last three. 

Fight Night 6: Lethbridge – Feb. 10 (Lethbridge, Alberta)

John Howard (25-13) vs. Ronald Stallings (14-8)
Bout cancelled per Tapology

ACB 80: Burrel vs Tumenov – Feb. 16 (Krasnodar, Russia)

Albert Tumenov def. Nah-shon Burrell via Unanimous Decision
Tumenov has now won back-to-back fights since leaving the UFC, Burrell meanwhile has now lost three of his last four fights. 

Murad Kalamov def. Takeya Mizugaki via Unanimous Decision 
Kamalov has now won four of his last five fights while Mizugaki suffers his fourth loss in a row. 

Bubba Jenkins (12-4) vs. Mukhamed Kokov (12-2)
Jenkins out due to injury 

Shamil Nikaev def. Alexander Sarnavskiy via Split Decision
Bellator veteran Sarnavsky has now lost three of his last four fights while Nikaev remains undefeated in his career at 9-0. 

Ali Bagov def. Leandro Silva via Unanimous Decision 
Bagov earns his third straight win while Silva drops to 2-2 in his last four fights. 

Titan FC 48: Torres vs. Orellano – Feb. 16 (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) 

Adriano Martins (28-9) vs. Rafael Alves (15-9)
Bout cancelled per Tapology. 

Lux Fight League 002 – Feb. 17 (Mexico)

Sergio Daniel Cossio Dominguez def. Mike De La Torre via Unanimous Decision
UFC veteran De La Torre suffers his third straight loss in his first fight since his UFC release. While Dominguez has now won two of his last three fights. 

Colosseum Combat 43 – Feb. 24 (Kokomo, Indiana)

Sean Salmon (18-21) vs. Jonathan Ivey (33-56)
Bout cancelled per Tapology 

ACB 81 – Feb. 23 (Dubai) 

Aslambek Saidov def. Roan Carneiro via Unanimous Decision
Saidov wins his third fight in a row while UFC veteran Carneiro has now lost three of his last four fights

Luke Barnatt def. Maxim Futin via TKO (Punches and Knees) at 3:27, RD. 2
Former UFC middleweight Barnatt has now won two of his last three fights while Futin has now lost four of his last five fights. 

Tanner Boser def. DJ Linderman via Unanimous Decision 
Top Canadian heavyweight Boser earns his second straight win while WSOF/Bellator veteran Linderman suffers his third loss in his last four fights

KOP 60 – Feb. 24 (Grand Rapids, Michigan) 

Joe Riggs def. Erick Lozano via TKO. RD.2 
Former UFC title challenger Riggs earns his seventh win in a row, which all of those victories coming by stoppage. Lozono meanwhile has his four-fight win streak snapped.

Russian Cagefighting Championship: RCC – Feb 25 (Yekaterinburg, Russia)

Sergei Kharitonov def. Joey Beltran via Unanimous Decision
Strikeforce/Bellator veteran Kharitonov earns his third straight win while Beltran has now lost four of his last five fights.
