The 11 fight card is scheduled to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 7 p.m. ET. My Fights to AVOID betting are:
Featherweight bout: Brandon Davis (-115) vs. Kyle Bochniak (-105)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Davis should be a slight-140 betting favorite entering this contest, which will be his UFC debut. I can’t fault anybody for taking a shot on him at the current price, as I do see it as a “favorite or pass” situation. For me personally, though, it is indeed going to have to be a pass. I think this fight is going to come down to whether Bochniak can keep it standing long enough to edge out two out of three rounds or not, because I believe he is the superior boxer, though Davis should have the edge on the mat, and I expect him to look for takedowns. This is a fight I can see Davis losing on the scorecards if it’s close. He may need to make it one sided in order to get the call, as I believe the crowd in Boston will be on Bochniak’s side. Davis should take this one, but I wanna stay away.
Gabe’s Call: Davis by Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
Lightweight bout: Islam Makhachev (-235) vs. Gleison Tibau (+195)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Makhachev should be a -180 betting favorite entering this 155 pound contest, so I see no betting value in him at his current offering price of -235. I also don’t think Tibau is quite worthy of a wager at +195, either, so for me, this is going to have to be a fight I avoid at the sportsbook come Saturday night, and I advise you do the same. Tibau is coming off a long layoff and there are a lot of question marks surrounding him at this point.
Gabe’s Call: Makhachev by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
