Your Best Bets for UFC 219’s ‘Fight of the Night’

UFC 219: Cyborg vs. Holm
Date: December 30
Arena: T-Mobile Arena
City: Las Vegas, NV

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be back in Las Vegas, NV for the final card of the year with UFC 219: Cyborg vs. Holm. The 10-fight card is scheduled to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 7 p.m. ET. Prelims will continue on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m., with the main card getting going on Pay Per View at 10 p.m. If interested in wagering on any bouts for these fight cards, all betting lines are made available at Several Bookmakers.

These are your best bets for the bonus:

Calvillo/Esparza (+1000) || 1u to win 10u

A Cynthia Calvillo fight always has a chance of taking home the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus. I think this particular contest will largely take place on the mat, and Calvillo and Esparza are both excellent grapplers, so I expect there to be some entertaining action on the mat. At +1000, I find it tough to pass this one up, especially considering it is a main card bout. Should they manage to earn the evening’s honors, it would be the first time for both 115 pounders.

Nicolau/Smolka (+800) 1u to win 8u

This is a pairing of two fighters who are fun to watch and have a high ceiling at 125 pounds, so I expect that we are in for fireworks as soon as the sound of the opening bell. I believe both flyweights will show up hungry for victory in this contest and do everything they can to turn it. Nicolau has a lot to prove coming off his drug suspension, and Smolka desperately needs to snap his three fight losing skid. This is definitely a fight not to blink during; even though it may last all three rounds, I think that is 15 full minutes of action you don’t want to miss a second of. At +800, I definitely think this is worth a play. Should Nicolau and Smolka take home the bonus, it would be the first time for Nicolau and the second for Smolka.

Elliott/De La Rosa (+1000) 1u to win 8u

Regardless of the outcome to this 135 pound scrap, I believe these fighters will start the UFC 219 fight card off on a high note, as they will kick things off with the prelims on Fight Pass. Elliott is generally an exciting fighter to watch every time he steps foot inside the Octagon, and I expect it to be no different this time, as he welcomes the undefeated De La Rosa, who will be looking to make a statement in his UFC debut. This should be a fun fight between two flyweights who don’t have to cut the extra weight to make 125 pounds, so I expect more out of them than normal. I think +1000 is an incredible price to get, as I think they will likely deliver with the fireworks, so I cannot pass this one up. Should they end up walking away with the bonus, it would be the third time for Elliott, while clearly being the first for De La Rosa.

2017 FOTN results: 7–8 for +8.75u
