MMA Odds and Ends for Thursday: Kamaru Usman vs. Emil Meek rebooked for UFC 220


MMA Fighting broke the news Wednesday
that the previously scheduled Kamaru Usman vs. Emil Meek welterweight matchup for UFC 219 has been moved to UFC 220 on Jan. 20 in Boston. The switch up is due to Meek having U.S. visa issues being from Norway.

Usman (11-1) is coming off an impressive knockout victory over Sergio Moraes at UFC Fight NIght 116. The Ultimate Fighter Season 21 winner has gone 6-0 in the UFC and hasn’t lost a fight since May 2013. Meek (9-2, 1 NC) hasn’t competed since he won his UFC debut back in Dec. 2016 defeating Jordan Mein by unanimous decision. The 29-year-old is currently riding a four-fight win streak.

TUF 26’s Maia Stevenson faces Polyana Viana at UFC Fight Night 125 in Brazil

The fight card continues to take shape for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 125 event in Brazil. UFC officials recently announced “The Ultimate Fighter 26” cast member Maia Stevenson will make her promotional debut against fellow newcomer Polyana Viana.

Stevenson (6-4) was eliminated from TUF 26 when she lost to eventual finalst Sijara Eubanks. The 35-year-old headed into the reality series on a five-fight win streak after going 1-4 to start her MMA career.Viana (9-1) is a former Jungle Fight strawweight champion and heads into her UFC debut on five-fight win streak. The 25-year-old hasn’t lost a fight since December 2014. Here’s an updated look at the card.
