MMA Odds and Ends for Friday: UFC Releases Five Fighters Including Takanori Gomi

The UFC has released five fighters from their roster including Japanese standout Takanori Gomi according to a report from Combate. Along with Gomi, Hacran Dias, Henrique da Silva, Adriano Martins and Carlos Felipe were also added to the cut list. 

Gomi (35-14, 1 NC) hasn’t won a fight since April 2014 losing his last five fights in the octagon. All of the 39-year-old’s wins in the UFC are against fighters no longer on the roster.

Dias (23-6-1) went  3-5 record inside the UFC and has lost three-fights in a row. He most recently lost a unanimous decision to Jared Gordon at UFC Fight Night 119 in October.

Da Silva (12-4) has four in a row since including a first-round knockout loss to Gokhan Saki in September.

Martins (28-9) suffered back-to-back setbacks Leonardo Santos and most recently Kajan Johnson.

Felipe (8-0) never competed in the UFC however he was issued a two-year suspension after failing an out-of-competition drug test ahead of his matchup Christian Colombo at UFC Sao Paulo.
