Here is my parlay:
Middleweight bout: Cezar Ferreira (-280) vs. Nate Marquardt (+240)
Gabe’s Thoughts: A lot of people are doing MMA math with this fight and are picking Marquardt to win in an upset, and I believe that they are wrong. Yes, CB Dolloway knocked out Cezar Ferreira, and only a few fights later Dolloway gets knocked out by Nate Marquardt. Both of those were big upsets, as the losers were heavy betting favorites going into those matchups. So, it makes sense that Ferreira is the favorite in this matchup. It makes even more sense considering how great he has looked as of late, while Marquardt has appeared to be on a steady decline, despite coming off a controversial unanimous decision loss to Vitor Belfort earlier this year, who himself is on a big decline. As long as Ferreira avoids getting caught, this is his fight to lose, and he has been fighting a lot smarter lately, so I do expect him to stay safe en route to a unanimous decision victory in this one, potentially stopping Marquardt along the way. Even at -280, I see betting value in Ferreira, as I think he should be a 4-to-1 favorite heading into this 185-pound matchup.
Gabe’s Call: Ferreira by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Welterweight bout: Sean Strickland (-300) vs. Court McGee (+250)
Gabe’s Thoughts: At this point in their careers, I believe Strickland is the better fighter of the two. I expect him to be the faster and stronger of the two, and I do think he will get the better of McGee both on the feet and on the mat in this matchup. I expect Strickland to pick up an impressive victory over a veteran in McGee in this matchup, ultimately bouncing back into the win column and letting everybody know he is still a threat in the UFC’s 170-pound division.
Gabe’s Call: Strickland by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Gabe’s Recommended Parlay: Ferreira (-280) and Strickland (-300) at -124
