MMA Odds and Ends for Thursday: Franke Edgar Injured, Max Holloway Needs New Opponent for UFC 218

An undisclosed injury has forced Frankie Edgar off his Dec. 2 title challenge against UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway at UFC 218. Combate was the first to report the news. According MMAFighting, Edgar suffered the injury earlier this week and should be ready to fight in 12 weeks as he does not need surgery. No word on who will replace Edgar against Holloway. UFC 218 takes place at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Here’s an updated look at the card.

Dominick Cruz injured, Jimmie Rivera needs new opponent for UFC 219 

Jimmie Rivera needs new opponent for UFC 219 with Dominick Cruz injured Ariel Helwani reported on Wednesday that Dominick Cruz is out of his UFC 219 fight against Jimmie Rivera. The former UFC bantamweight champion suffered a broken arm. Top bantamweight John Lineker also told MMA Fighting that he would be interested in replacing Cruz.

Jessica-Rose Clark now faces Bec Rawlings at UFC Sydney

Invicta FC standout Jessica-Rose Clark has stepped up to replace Joanne Calderwood against Bec Rawlings at UFC Fight Night 121 on Nov. 19 at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. UFC officials have yet to announce the change but Rawlings posted the news on her Twitter

Clark (7-4-1 NC) has gone 2-2 in her last four fights including a splt decision win over Carina Damm at Titan FC 45. The 29-year-old is originally from Sydney but now trains in Las Vegas, NV. Rawlings (11-3) has lost back-to-back fights against Tecia Torres and Paige VanZant. The Alliance MMA product will be looking for her first win since March 2016. Here’s an updated look at the card.

Rani Yahya off UFC Fresno, Aljamain Sterling needs new opponent

MMAFighting reports that Rani Yahya is off UFC Fresno due to an undisclosed injury. As a result Aljamain Sterling is in need of a new opponent on Dec. 9.

Sterling (14-2) is coming off a unanimous decision victory over former bantamweight champion Renan Barao at UFC 214. He’s gone the distance in his last four fights. Stay tuned to MMAOddsbreaker for an updates on Sterlings replacement.
