The Ultimate Fighting Championship was live from Sao Paulo this past Saturday night with UFC Fight Night 119: Machida vs. Brunson. It was a very entertaining night of scraps that five six out of 12 of them end inside the distance. and with the scraps now in our rear view, let’s take a look at which of the evening’s competitors we may no longer see going to work inside the Octagon…

ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK

Jim Miller

Miller came up short in Brazil against the native Francisco Trinaldo, losing the bout on the judges’ scorecards following three rounds of action. He got the better of Trinaldo in the first round, but quickly ran out of gas and got dominated for rounds two and three. The loss puts Miller on a three fight losing skid inside the Octagon, and I think he now stands a 50/50 chance of being released by the promotion. The only reason they would keep him around is because they have a good relationship with him, however he is vastly declining and it is hard to ignore. It won’t surprise me to see Miller in the Bellator cage in 2018, because I don’t think he will hang up the gloves if he receives his walking papers from the UFC.

Christian Colombo

Colombo suffered a first round rear naked choke submission against Brazilian promotional newcomer Marcelo Golm and he is now winless in three Octagon appearances. The 37 year old Dane is arguably the least skilled heavyweight in the UFC, so I think there is a good chance that we have seen the last of him inside the Octagon. The only reason I could see him get another fight is if there is another fighter they really want to see pick up a win.
