British prospect Darren Till will face the biggest test of his career as he goes from fighting unranked welterweights, to former lightweight title challenger Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC Fight Night 118. It will be a massive step up in competition for Till, as Cerrone represents the most difficult challenge he’ll face in any aspect of MMA. Meanwhile, for Cerrone this matchup seemingly represents a significant step down from his normal level of competition.
Taking place in Gdansk, the card also features six Polish fighters who will have the full support of the home crowd. Leading the charge in that regard is former strawweight title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz, who welcomes Jodie Esquibel to the UFC in the co-main event. Jan Blachowicz looks to snap a two-fight losing streak against Devin Clark, while unbeaten Cage Warriors middleweight champion Oskar Piechota makes his Octagon debut against Jonathan Wilson to kick off the main card.
Those four bouts all have lines released at Several Bookmakers. Till has garnered respect from the betting community, as his price tag of +130 is in line with how fighters like Jorge Masvidal and Eddie Alvarez were been priced against Cerrone in recent years. Kowalkiewicz is predictably a large favorite over Esquibel at -500, while Clark and Piechota both find themselves favored under 2-to-1 in their respective bouts.
MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas opened the betting odds for the eight bout preliminary card on UFC Fight Night 118 today at Several Bookmakers. Those bouts include Marcin Held hoping to finally pick up his first UFC victory against newcomer Nasrat Haqparast. Polish heavyweight Adam Wieczorek will be welcomed to the Octagon by Anthony Hamilton, whose recent three-fight skid has required just 5:31 of cage time. A pair of bantamweights whose last fights played out in surprising manner will look to gain some traction in the division, as Damian Stasiak faces off with Brian Kelleher. Stasiak will want to build of his competitive loss to Pedro Munhoz, while Kelleher looks to erase the memories of his quick submission loss to Marlon Vera.
With a four-fight win streak that includes victories over UFC vets Maiquel Falcao and Luigi Fioravanti, Ramazan Emeev makes his UFC debut against Sam Alvey. Emeev was initially slated to fight Trevor Smith, but an injury forced the change. The first three preliminary fights appear to be the most interesting on paper, as Andre Fili and Artem Lobov should provide an entertaining striking battle, Josh Emmett hopes to rebound from his first career loss against Felipe Arantes, and Lina Lansberg squares off with prospect Aspen Ladd, who makes her UFC debut a few months after she was originally scheduled to do so.
