The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns in two weeks for an October 21st event in Gdansk, Poland. UFC Fight Night 118 will be headlined by a welterweight contest between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and undefeated British fighter Darren Till.
Opening odds were already released for the main event a few weeks ago, but the rest of the main card will now be available.
In the co-main event, former women’s strawweight title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz takes on Jodie Esquibel. The hometown favorite Kowalkiewicz began her professional career 10-0 but lost her title shot against Joanna Jedrzejczyk one year ago and was finished in the first round by Claudia Gadelha in her next fight. She’ll hope to bounce back into the win column against UFC newcomer Esquibel. Esquibel trains out of Jackson’s MMA and is a veteran of six Invicta fights. She also competed on The Ultimate Fighter season 23 but was eliminated in the qualifying round. Esquibel most recently defeated DeAnna Bennett this past March at Invicta FC 22.
Also on tap is a light heavyweight scrap between Jan Blachowicz and Devin Clark. Blachowicz is another Polish favorite, and he began his UFC career with promise, earning a first round TKO victory over Ilir Latifi, but he has since lost four of his last five fights and is likely competing to keep his UFC job. Clark hails from South Dakota and after losing his UFC debut, he’s since won two straight decisions against lower tier light heavyweights.
Last but not least, the opening bout of the main card will be a middleweight fight as Jonathan Wilson drops down to take on UFC newcomer Oskar Piechota. Wilson lost his last two fights at light heavyweight and has not competed in a year. This will be his middleweight debut. Piechota is an exciting Polish 185-er with a record of 9-0-1. Every one of Piechota’s victories is a finish with four knockouts and five submissions. He’ll be making his UFC debut on the 21st.
