Eddie Alvarez’s coach Mark Henry announced on Instagram that the former UFC lightweight champion will face Justin Gaethje at UFC 218 on Dec. 2 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
Alvarez (28-5) last fought in May where he went to a “No Contest” with Dustin Poirier due to an illegal knee at UFC 211. The 33-year-old will be looking for his first win since July 2016. Gaethje (18-0) is coming off a “Fight of the Year” victory over Michael Johnson at The Ultimate Fighter Season 25 finale in July. The Colorado natve has only gone the distance twice in his 18-fight career. Here’s an updated look at the card.
