Live Dogs for UFC 216

UFC 216
Date: October 7th
Arena: T-Mobile Arena
City: Las Vegas, NV

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is back in Las Vegas, NV with UFC 216: Ferguson vs. Lee. The 13-fight card is scheduled to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 6:15 p.m. ET. Prelims will continue on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m., with the main card getting going on on Pay Per View at 10 p.m. If interested in wagering on any bouts for these fight cards, all betting lines are made available at Several Bookmakers.

Here are my live dogs:

Women’s Flyweight bout: Kalindra Faria (-190) vs. Mara Romero Borella (+165)

Gabe’s Thoughts: Faria was set to make her promotional debut against fellow promotional newcomer Angela “KGB” Lee, but Lee was forced to withdraw from the bout due to UFC/USADA regulations and will be replaced by yet another promotional newcomer in Borella. Faria rides a three fight winning streak heading into this contest, while Borella is undefeated in her last seven. I think this is an evenly matched fight and personally think Borella should be a very slight -130 betting favorite to win here, despite being the less experienced fighter of the two. At her current offering underdog price of +165, I do think she is the right side for a wager in this Pay Per View main card contest scheduled for three rounds.

Gabe’s Call: Borella by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Gabe’s Recommended Play: Borella (+155)

Bantamweight bout: Tom Duquesnoy (-165) vs. Cody Stamman (+145)

Gabe’s Thoughts: This is a matchup pitting two 1-0 fighters in the UFC’s bantamweight division against each other, both being prospects with high ceilings at 135-pounds. Duequesnoy scored a second round knockout of Patrick Williams in his UFC debut, while Stamman earned a unanimous decision over fellow newcomer Terrion Ware. I think this is an excellent matchup at 135-pounds and am surprised to see them facing each other so soon in their UFC tenures. At the current odds, I think Stamman holds great value at the underdog price of +145, as I think he should be a -180 betting favorite in this bantamweight contest. I was actually afraid Stamman might open as an overpriced favorite in the -200s or -300s and was surprised to see him open as the underdog here, so I will gladly take it.

Gabe’s Call: Stamman by Submission (rear naked choke, 2:01 round 2)

Gabe’s Recommended Play: Stamman (+145)
